North Island Kaka (Nestor meridionalis), one of New Zealand's large forest parrot species that became endangered under the pressures of invading stoats, rats and feral cats. Now it's doing better, only in reserves where predator control for stoats and cats is ruthlessly carried out. This bird is in Karori, Wellington, December 2010. [Nestor meridionalis NI 001]
